Woo woo Trubie... Lexie has an ouchie

Yes I'm well aware it's been a whiles since I've updated. But I need to put out some official information and this seems as good a place as any.

On Sunday September the 22nd of 2019 the artist known as Lexie Luan had a heart attack.  While it was a very serious incident, please know that Lexie is stable and safe right now. She is in a good deal of pain but as far as the medical professionals say, she is out of the woods.

The doctors are going to run test and fix things as best they can.It should be a while before Lexie will be doing shows in Second Life. She's been through a lot.

Harrie is gone

I really don't know what to say. I'm stunned and I feel as if I'm drowning. I haven't cried in decades until I found out of the passing of Helen Harbision/Harrie Skellerjump. For those of you that never got to meet her, she was the purple hair Queen of Pixel Hill, Second lifes most prestigious Music venue back in the day.

Harrie was a mover and shaker and featured the gold standard of  music at her venue. You know something weird? You never really notice how much unimportant things people worry about until you meet someone whom doesn't sweat the minutia. That was Harrie. if the music was good that's all that matter and it'a funny how good music stacks up. All my SL muso faves at the time play Pixle hill POL Arida, Winstone Ackland, Shagpile Stryker, Maximillion Kleen, Lexie Luan aand even Zorch Boomhauer.

She actully booked me for my first show and made me a tip jar and showed me how to "REZZ" it. I had all my Zorch Boomhauer relase parties at Pixel hill. She was incredibly Important to my development as an artist. and as important as all was to me, In the end she was my friend. I don't have a lot of friends. She'll be missed.

The Screen cap above, if from the big Pixel Birthday party. it was a good show, good time and I was lucky to be there. I have one take away from Harrie's passing. You never really know how much time youo have to be kind to people before they are gone. Let's be kind to everyone from now on.

People deep down inside want music and musical success to be a matter of the cream rising to the top. however...In the past, it's never been a meritocracy. You got to hear what the man in a suit thought you would buy. But lets face it, 20 years ago if you had a "Demo", it was at the bequest of a suit monkey, and in most cases the Demo sounded like Garbage.

Now thanks to the ceaseless march of technology, any non-affiliated farm boy can make a demo and sound like garbage. The same non-affiliated farm boy can upload the Demo to the Inter web and he's out in the world and surely moments away from being discovered by a Impresario recording dude whom will love him for his grand musical vision and sign him up for a.... GASP.... Development deal.

Wow that was a tangent. Anyway......

It's hard to make a good recording and frankly, it's just as hard to make a bad recording. but good songs need to fly free and find willing ears to make a new home in. And the best way to go about that is Via Spotify.

You can use Spotify for Free if you don't mind commercial (I don't mind They come up rather infrequently). I don't have a premium account, so I don't know what if any advantages it has (outside of being commercial free). Long story short, if you Love or like music, you should sign up for an account today.

Not only can you listed, but you can be an active participant in promotion by starting your own play list and sharing it with your Lover, Friends and Casual acquaintances. I would rate my tech savvy at about medium and I seemed to have few problems finding song, playing songs and creating playlist. Frankly, I've only been using the service for a few hours, but most of that time has been spent listening to music. So while I'm not ready to write a book  for advanced users, I can tell  you it's pretty easy to use.

During the 4 year gestation of "Andy Warhol Chic". Many songs were written and recorded that didn't end up on that project. Frankly, I'm okay with that.  Some of those songs ended up here, but just some of them.

Kinagree Smith finally release "Andy Warhol Chic"

I'll be the first to admit it's not the longest recording known to mankind, but it did take the better part of 4 years. Is it any good? It's the best recording ever made and until you give it a listen  you aren't entitled to an opinion.

Okay, here is the Kinagree Smith skinny for all the kewl kids that want to be "In the Loop" Due to health problems Jack Kinagree can no longer play guitar consistanly (wow I'm talking about myself in the third person, that isn't too weird). Yeah we can't play live because I don't know on any given day how my hands will be working. So we've decided to become a "Studio" band... like Steely Dan or the Archies.

We do have another release in the works as, it's already up at some stores. will probably be online tomorrow. Stand by for updates.

Long story short, expect more releases, singles and short EPs. We'll probably make some of the Zorch and Lexie catalog available for streaming (for the first time)

We've got a new distributor, and they don't charge us per project. Just a flat fee and we can distriubutes as much music as we want. So expect a rediculouse amout of music coming out. No deadlines, but no more 4 year in productions EPs either.

You never get a second chance to make a last impression

Yesterday a Second Life Musician became an Ex-Second Life Musician. Of course the way he went about it was less then dignified.

Lexie was looking at her Facebook page and found a rant from an "Un-named" muso whom felt he was not appreciated sufficiently and was going to storm off in a huff and never play in Second life again. This guy had his finger pointing at everybody.

Now, I feel qualified to talk about being un-popular because while I feel My self and the band "Kinagree Smith" are one of the best acts on Second life, we are by no means popular. And I know the reasons we are not popular.

IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!

Just kiddking, it's NOT your fault at all. It is the nature of what we do that makes us both GREAT and not very popular. We play an awful lot of Original tunes and  when you drop somebody into a concert and they don't hear songs they know and are comfortable with, They don't have a good time. However, there are a happy few that look for something original, or personable and enjoy what we do very much.


Now the fellow that quit the other day, had an act where he would play flute over  backing tracks. Now that does not really peak my interest and I can't imaging many people would be lining up for an hour of flute tooting. It was kind of unreasonable for him to expect great successes with such an act, however he did expect it and was was very dissapointed when it didn't come after two years of trying.

He did mention he had a few friends and or supporters but didn't mention them by name, and if they are really that few it should be easy to mention them all. Kinagree Smith is a cult band, but I can't name all our friends and supporters. However we do recognize them when they show up.

Now, one of your friends is a Second life ROCKSTAR. She blows out Sims when she plays, and as her friends we are privy to the fact she work her butt off to keep things interesting. She also does popular songs and half the time she plays her bass to backing tracks. She does popular things and adds the talent and hard work to be the ROCKSTAR she is.

Now this blog is not really about what makes you popular or not in Second life. It's about leaving with your dignity intact. You really never get a second chance to make a last impression and as of now I think the fellow in question is very immature.  When you leave please don't underline your failure because only the artist can define failure or success. If you choose to leave Second Life, and must say something, please make a point to thank your supporters. Please don't  throw a childish tantrum.

Second life doesn't owe you popularity. Bring what you got and work hard. But in the end, I'm reminded of the words of a wise quasi blues-man. "The truth don't matter anyway, it is, what it is, what it is".
